Create a Case: Step-by-Step Process for Creating a New Case

Learn how to create a new case in three easy steps. The "Create" button will only appear after a search for a case yields no results or when the user determines a new case needs to be created. Once the case is saved, the option to create a party relationship will be available.

  2. Create a case Step 1: Create button will not display until user has attempted to search for a case. Only after “no results found” or results are listed, will Create New display Step 2: User determines a new case needs to be created and clicks on “Create New” Step 3: “Create Case” page is displayed Note: “Create Party Relationship” is not displayed until the case is saved See next slide for Case Creation page……………………………………………

Notes: Create Relationship button will not display when creating a case, but once the case has been saved, it will be displayed each time the Case Profile page is accessed for this case. Mother and Father reference will always display. If they have not been defined for the case, there will be a notice to the user in the relationship area of the case. See last slide of Miscellaneous Notes identifying other relationships that will display Step 1: Select “Create Relationship” Step 2: Search for Party.   18. Miscellaneous Info • Case Profile • Address of the case will ALWAYS display and be editable on the Case Profile page. All letters will reference this address. • Mouseovers with descriptions of graphics in the Relationship area of the page will exist. • Whenever an address is changed, a case address history record will be created and viewable thru “case addresses” • Not all relationships will display on the case profile. The only relationships that will display are: • Mother • Father • Any legal guardian • Anyone that has “Youth Resides With” marked • Anyone that has “Mailing Address of Youth” marked • Case Relationships • When selecting relationship of “Mother” or “Father”, Legal Guardian will default to “Yes” • When updating a case relationship, if the address of the party is changed, the following will occur: • User will be prompted with message that changing the address of the party may affect other cases related to this party. • A party address history record will be created and will be able to be viewed through a new “Party Address History” screen accessible through the Party area of the system.
