2018 Ageing Report • The 2018 projection exercise will be the sixth update of the joint EPC-Commission long-term projections (previous 2001, 2006 and 2009, 2012 and 2015). • Mandate: ECOFIN council conclusions 12 May 2015. The Council invites: • the Economic Policy Committee to update, on the basis of new population projections to be provided by Eurostat, in close cooperation with the National Statistical Institutes (NSIs), its analysis of the economic and budgetary implications of population ageing by the autumn of 2018.
Timeframe (tentative) of the 2018 AR (1) • Population projections (EUROPOP2016): February 2017 • Setting of new macroeconomic assumptions (GDP and its drivers): by early 2017 • Labour force and GDP projections: February- April 2017 • Joint EPC-European Commission report on macroeconomic assumptions: (Summer - Autumn 2017)
