Liberec Region is the smallest region in the Czech Republic. • Thelargestcities: • 1) Liberec (100 000) • 2) Jablonec (50 000) • 3) Česká Lípa (35 000) • Liberec, with its Technical University, is the administrative centre of the region. • It is also an economic, trading, cultural and tourist centre of the region.

  3. Liberec region is predominantly mountainous. • There are Lusatian and Jizera Mountains, the Ještěd group and the western part of Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains. • The climate is cold and rainy; on northern slopes of BílýPotok area, there is the wettest place in Czechia. • The region is an important reservoir of drink water.

  4. Ještěd • Ještěd isa hotel andtransmitter on the top ofthemountain. • It’s1012 metershigh. Ještěd is 40 yearsoldandcablewayis 60 yearsold. • Itwasbuiltaccording to projectofthefamousCzecharchitect Karel Hubáček. • Ještěd isgoing to beadded to the list of UNESCO heritage.
