In 2010 the Castle reopened after a two year £3.1 million restoration project, returning the Castle back to its former glory of the Victorian period, a family home with a difference. The Castle is now managed by The Whitstable Castle Trust, a charitable organisation set up to run and maintain the Castle for the next fifty years. 3. Why Whitstable Castle? W • Set in three acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, the newly refurbished Castle provides one of the most stunning and unique venues for your special day in Kent. • The interior of the Castle has been completely redecorated and refurbished in the original Regency style. • The Castle is just 200m from Tankerton Beach, ideal for those fun photos or even a paddle, just a few minutes’ walk to Whitstable Harbour and the historic town itself. • Whitstable Castle’s Wedding package is very cost effective and provides you with all of those vital elements for your day at this unique and historic venue. • The three acres of landscaped grounds will be available to you and your guests – please note that the gardens are open to the public until dusk. • Our expertise has been built up over many years of managing weddings and private functions at the Castle and our experienced management team will ensure that you and your guest will have a truly memorable day in a unique and special setting. • All income from your wedding or function goes to help support the work of The Whitstable Castle Trust protecting and preserving this wonderful place for generations to come. 4. Why Whitstable Castle? Ceremony W Our largest room, The Mallandain, is licensed for civil weddings/partnerships and will seat up to 50people for a ceremony. You can take your vows in front of the fireplace or in front of the window overlooking the gardens, either location gives a great opportunity for photographs. On your wedding day the groom will have an interview in the Mallandain Room approximately 30 minutes before the service begins. The bride will arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to the service and then be taken to Miles Room for her interview to avoid being seen by guests. After the interview the bride will be led down the staircase and into the Pearson’s Room before entering the Mallandain Room for the commencement of the ceremony. You will be in contact with your registrars prior to your wedding day and they will be able to give you excellent assistance if you have any questions at all. Registrars fees are always in addition to venue costs. Prices are available on request from the Registrars Office. If you are thinking of having a smaller wedding, the Miles Room and Graystone Library are also licensed for weddings also and can accommodate up to 20 people for a ceremony. Wedding Breakfast W Once the ceremony is over you will want to perhaps have a celebratory drink and of course take some beautiful photographs both inside the Castle and outside in our award winning gardens. Our catering team can then put together a delightful Wedding Breakfast, which will be served to you and your guests on your day of celebration. You can choose to eat either back in the Mallandain Room, where the maximum capacity for eating is 52 people or in the Robinson Room which has a maximum capacity of 42 people. From our Castle Wedding Package, please select a choice of 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts from our menu listed later in the pack. Our Mallandain drinks packages includes your welcome drinks, toasts and 1/3 bottle wine per person. In the evening we will provide your guests with a buffet and we can accommodate additional evening guests for £15.00 per person. Our buffet menus are available on request. Both the evening buffet and the full drinks package are included in the Castle Wedding Package. Whitstable Castle is here for all of your catering needs. 8. Deposits & Payments W • We can hold a provisional date for you up to a maximum of two-weeks. If we have another enquiry about that date we will contact you to see if you would like to go ahead with the booking. • Once you have decided on your date you will need to complete a personal details and hire form then return this to the Castle office along with the required deposit. Once this is received we will then send you a confirmation letter for the date requested and a receipt for the deposit. • A non-refundable deposit of £1000 is required to secure your preferred date if you take the Castle Wedding Package or Castle Reception Package. If you book for a ceremony only then 30% of the total fee will be payable upon booking. • 60 days prior to your hire date, we will require a further 50% of costs which will form part of your non-refundable deposit. • 30 days prior to your hire date, we will require your final balance and a £500 cheque. • Should you cancel your booking up to six weeks prior to the date, a 75% charge will apply. • Should you cancel your booking less than six weeks prior to the date, full charges will apply. • We strongly advise all hirers to make their own insurance arrangements to cover cancellation costs of your function.
