Topic: TrianglesTarget:5th class Classification of Triangles Triangles are classified, or grouped, in two different ways. One classification distinguishes among the sides another by the angles.
OBJECTIVES To make students aware about the different types of triangles. To make the concept more clear through images. To apply the knowledge in real life situations
Activity 1 A Measure the side AB Measure the side AC Measure the side BC AB = 5cm AC= 5cm BC= 3cm C B
Activity2 A You see by comparison that two sides i.e. AB= AC = 5cm. So, a triangle with two sides of equal length is called an Isosceles Triangle C B
Activity3 Measure the side AB Measure the side AC Measure the side BC AB =3 cm AC= 3 cm BC= 3 cm A B C
Activity4 You see by comparison that two sides i.e AB= AC = BC=3cm. So, a triangle with all the three sides equal is called Equilateral Triangle A B C
Activity5 Measure the side AB Measure the side AC Measure the side BC AB =3 cm AC= 4.5 cm BC= 5.5 cm A B C `
Activity6 You see by comparison that side AB ≠ AC ≠ BC So, a triangle with all the three sides different is called Scalene Triangle A B C
Conclusion So we see that triangles can be classified on the basis of length of sides as under:- Isosceles Triangles (having two sides equal) Equilateral Triangle (having all the three sides equal) Scalene Triangle (having all the three sides different)
