Elementary Level • Why Bother? • Young students may not understand that copying things from the Internet is actually considered cheating. They might be under the impression that cheating only involves copying off another person in their class or a friend from another class. • What Can I Do? • Give students 2-4 scenarios of online academic dishonesty. Have students pretend to be the offending student(s) and ask them to create 3 ways to resolve the situation that would NOT involve academic dishonesty. • Talk about the importance of a code of conduct for online academic integrity. Together as a class, develop a code of conduct and have students sign.
