Company History • GameStop was originally a store called Babbage‘s, which was a small store that sold software located in Texas. • Through many mergers, Babbage’s evolved into GameStop. • At a point in time Barnes & Noble purchased GameStop. • In late 2004, GameStop reclaimed itself by purchasing 6,000,000 shares of stock. • In 2005, GameStop acquired Electronics Boutique (EB Games), which was a rival in the business. • The most recent event was the purchasing of Rhino Video Games from Blockbuster in 2007.
