Review of the Film • The grandfather is kind of the fish out of the water because he is so used to living in Beijing. • His son and daughter in law live in New York in a suburban area. • The film shows the contrast between traditional Chinese ideas of Confucian relationships within a family and the much more informal Western emphasis on the individual. The friction in the family caused by these differing expectations eventually leads to the grandfather moving out of the family home (something very alien to traditional expectations), and in the process he learns lessons (some comical, some poignant) about how he must adapt to his new surroundings before he comes to terms with his new life. It can be seen as a sub-section of Asian cinema, which in turn is a sub-section of world cinema, a catchall term used in the English-speaking world to refer to all foreign language films • Popular genres are Martial Arts films, J-Horror, K-horror and Animate to name a few. • Some of the great Japanese Film makers are from China we have Cai Chusheng and in Hong Kong of course the most popular actor: Jackie Chan.   11. Parallel Movie Comparison 1Movie: Outsourced • Summary • This movie is about Todd, the main character, sent to Indian to operate a customer service center due to outsource. Todd learns and experience many things that is different than what he experience in America. In the end, Todd realizes that resistance will get thing worse but to accept and learn the Indian culture in order to be successful. By: Ray Yiu
