Staffing • Follow accepted procedures for advertising, interviewing, & hiring • Staff—most valuable asset • In hiring, you are building a team • Attitude most important skill • Never surprise someone after hiring • Retaining staff provides savings of time and money • Provide clear expectations • Benefits, small rewards, feeling appreciated all help • Consider hiring experts: legal, technical

  4. Training • Provides skills to successfully operate a quality program • Budget early for lots of training • Retaining staff provides biggest savings • More cost effective than recruiting • Take advantage of training opportunities
