Size Distribution of Particulate Matter Emitted from Diesel Vehicles in Thailand Mr.ITTIPOL Paw-armart Environmental Officer Pollution Control Department Bangkok, Thailand
Background of Problem • Number of Vehicles • Traffic condition • Effectiveness of I/M System • Fuel Quality • Vehicle Characteristics • Lack of Transport & Land use planning
Objectives • Studies size distribution of PM emitting from diesel vehicles ( LD and HD vehicles) • Explores the concentration of PM; different by size, emitting from diesel vehicles (LD and HD vehicles)
Equipments and Experiments • Location : PCD Emission Laboratory • Sampled vehicles • LD 12 vehicles • HD 15 vehicles
Equipments & Methods • Cascade Impactor “Micro Orific Uniform Deposit Impactor (MOUDI)” • CVS (Constant Volume Sampler System)
BKK Driving Cycle for LD Vehicles BKK Driving Cycle for HD Vehicles
Conclusion • LDV PM size less than PM10 89.41% PM size less than PM2.5 66.60% PM size 0.18-0.32 micron as 11.674 mg/m3 (20.27%) • HDV PM size less than PM10 91.77% PM size less than PM2.5 76.49% PM size 0.56-1.0 micron as 14.471 mg/m3 (17.82%)
Further study Analyze chemical components of PM - PAHs - TC, OC and EC - Ionic species (Na+ , SO42-) - Element composition (Al, As, Ba ect.) Characteristic of PM from different Bio-diesels fuels such as palm oil, used cooking oil and coconut oil ect. Develop PM emission factor
