Interesting Thoughts/Observations • Some interesting numbers: • A total of 281,233 IFTA carriers (Increase of 4,677 or 1.69% from 2005) • 3,054,600 decals issued. (Increase of 10,800 or 0.35% from 2005) • Average still of 11 decals per carrier • Decal prices: • No charge 19 jurisdictions • Under $10 27 jurisdictions • Between $10-$20 10 jurisdictions • Greater than $20 2 jurisdictions
Interesting Thoughts/Observations • No single jurisdiction has more than 5.5% of the population of carriers: • 6 jurisdictions have 4.00+% of carriers • 3 jurisdictions have between 3.00 – 3.99% • 10 jurisdictions have between 2.00 – 2.99% • 17 jurisdictions have between 1.00 – 1.99% • 23 jurisdictions have less than 0.99% • In the grand scheme of things we are all equal
Interesting Thoughts/Observations • IFTA is a partnership between government and industry, and as a group we are stronger
Interesting Thoughts/Observations • We are living in interesting times • A significant number of issues facing government and industry: • Customer Service pressures • Organized crime • Alternative motor fuels • Technology changes (computer systems, vehicle/engine design, tire design) • Border issues • Privacy / terrorist balance • Aging workforce • Cost pressures / business viability
Key Messages • We have structured this event to inform, discuss and add value: • What we can do to enhance IFTA processes? • What can we do to add value to you? • All of the material/slides presented, with some exceptions, will be available on IFTA’s web site. • This is your event and is only as good as you make it.
Key Messages • Complete the critiques: • We built this event based in part on last year’s responses. • Tell us what can we do to improve (your knowledge and suggestions are important) • Think about ballots for next year • Remember business confidentialities - don’t identify a carrier/business by name
