Question 1 Request a CED Place a hold on the consignment Check if product is for human consumption
Question 2 • No, 669/2009 would not apply as husk rice is not ready to eat and requires further processing • Bill of lading and the invoice states that the rice is milled
Question 3 • Consignment is subject to Official checks under 669/2009 • Yes, a CED is required
Question 4 • We think that importer could be given the opportunity to decide to make 1 or 2 CED’s
Question 5 • Basmati Rice from Pakistan is subject to 50% examination therefore: • 1 CED (container) is subject to Documentary check • The other CED (container) is subject to sampling (Alfatoxins)
Question 6 • Aflatoxins
Question 7 • Use current regulation 401/2006 Sampling method: • 100 incremental samples resulting in 30kg sample (Global sample)
Question 8 • Container which was being sampled would be kept until results have been received and CED completed. • The other container would be released once the Documentary check is complete.
Question 9 • Premises can apply Article 9 of 669/2009 if no facilities for physical checks are available. • Approval needed prior to application.
Question 10 • Released for free circulation • Customs are presented with a completed CED • CED remains with the container and travels to the importer • A copy of the CED is kept
Question 11 • Reject consignment if Aflatoxin levels are above maximum levels • All options of article 19 of 669/2009 depending on how high the levels are
Question 12 • Transhipment is allowed only if it is declared prior to arrival and cant change your mind after • If a CED is presented at the DPE of entry all check must take place • It would be good practice to advice but the importer should advice the other country
Question 13 • No, samples cant be split before all the Official controls are complete (Article 12 of 669/2009)
2- The agent phones you and confirms the product is for human consumption and asks if you can release the container?What do you tell the agent? • No, not until all initial checks are complete. • A CED is required. • Product is subject to 669/2009- (Sudan Dyes from all countries) • Amended regulation of 669/2009 is 212/2010
Question 3 • 669/2009 would not apply if the Palm Oil was being used for feed rather than for human consumption
