  1. 1 Peter 2: It’s Not Fair

  2. (1-8) Where is the fairnessfor a God who sets aside His glory, takes on humanity, and crosses the gap created by His people in order to build the bridgeback to Him, only for His people then to refuseHis aid and have Him killed? The sufferingof Christ is unfair, and yet we are thankfulfor it!

  3. (9-11) The opportunityof the believer rests on the unfairnature of graceand mercy. We receive what we donotdeserve and we do not receive that which wedo. All the while the calling for the believer of AD 2017 is not unlike2000 BC- “showothersthegoodnessofGod. “ That was one of the purposes of the Temple.

  4. (11-12) The new identityof the Churchis bestowed at the cost of the deathof its former self. The resurrection lifeof Christ does not sharerule in us, much of the apostolic writings in the New Testament are devoted to explaining the difference between the old valuesystemand Jesus’s priorities! We have to learn the new wayof life(we call that process discipleship), and if we think Jesus agreeswith something we valued before we put Him first- all the more reason to be suspiciousof it!

  5. (13-25) We no longer find the meaning of life in earthrooted ambitionor values. Its honorsystem, its economicsystem, its justicesystem are all far below the treasurethat is knowing and being known by a loving HeavenlyFather!
