What is animation? • According to the Webster definition of animation, animation is the condition of being alive In the Creative world Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision, and can be created and demonstrated in a number of ways. ...

  8. The Experiment

  9. Materials • Sample survey of 20 people (who differ in): • Age • Experience • Gender • Grade Level • Animated video of Color guard Technique a simple spin • Explanation of the Technique

  10. Procedures • Explanation of the technique • The subject would attempt the technique • They would then watch the animation • Once again attempt the technique • After the two trials, they were then asked to take a survey.

  11. The Survey • How much color guard experience they have? • Which took the least amount of time to explain? • Which took the least amount of time to understand? • Which would they prefer to use again?

  12. Analysis • Approximately 86% of the sample agreed that it took way to long for me to explain. • About 92% of the sample agreed the animation was the easiest to understand • Roughly 87% would rather use the animation to learn.

  14. The Survey 87% would rather use the animation than the explanation. 86% of the sample agreed that the animation took the least amount of time to explain 92% of the sample agreed that the animation was the easiest to understand.

  15. Experience Most of the people surveyed has only about 0-6months of Color guard experience and only 1 person had 3 or more years of experience.

  16. GirlsV.SBoys About 80% of the girls agreed that they would prefer to use the animation again. About 90% of the boys agreed that they would prefer to use the animation again.

  17. Conclusion(My Findings) • Animation • is effective as a teaching method • can keep the attention spans of student a lot longer than traditional teaching methods • decreases the amount of information lost through the information transfer • Increases the speed at which students obtain information

  18. Final Thoughts “Global teens have been brought up to experience and expect sensory stimulation. This generation is constantly looking for new thrills that entertain. The preferred music is loud. The movies enjoyed feature fast action. The dances are rhythmic and frenetic…Global teens have a very low threshold for boredom…Do not bore this generation or it will abandon you” (Elissa Moses).
