  2. Introduction • There are generic tools and materials available to guide you through the STEPS surveillance process: • STEPS Manual and CD • Implementation • Instrument, Q by Q guide, Show Cards • Sampling • Data Collection • Data Entry • Data Analysis • Reporting

  3. STEPS Manual and CD • The STEPS Manual is a comprehensive guide to prepare and implement STEPS. • The accompanying CD contains an electronic copy of the manual and all the tools and materials available for STEPS.

  4. Implementation Materials • Template for the Implementation Plan • Part 3 of the Manual contains training modules and guidance for Data Collection, Entry and Analysis. • Template for the ethical approval.

  5. Instrument, Q by Q, and Show Cards • The STEPS Instrument to be adapted by the countries. • Question by Question guide for the interviewers • Show cards that assist during the interview process

  6. Sampling Materials • STEPS Sampling Workbook: Excel workbook that assists countries in correctly selecting and documenting their sample • Interview Tracking Workbook: Excel workbook that records the results of the data collection process (response rates)

  7. Data Collection Materials • Interview Tracking Form: Records household visits and tracks the response rate • Kish Household Coversheet: Assists interviewer to randomly select participants • Additional forms and templates in Part 6 of the Manual

  8. Data Entry Materials • EpiData: Data entry software • EpiData Templates: Templates that match the generic STEPS Instrument.

  9. Data Analysis Materials • Epi Info: Data analysis software • Epi Info Programs: Analysis syntax for Epi Info to attach the weights, run Fact Sheet, and Data Book

  10. Reporting Materials • Fact Sheet: Presents key results • Fact Sheet Analysis Guide: Identifies what indicators can be calculated based on Instrument used. • Data Book: Comprehensive guide to producing complete book of results • Site Report Template: Guidance of structuring your site report.
