Environmental Considerations • MANUFACTURE • All components except motors, frame and ESCs are RoHS compliant. • Use Lead free Solder • check coating on frame, motors. Check for cadmium, hexavalent chromium • NORMAL USE • Battery monitoring will give relevant information.
Environmental Considerations • DISPOSAL/RECYCLING • Recyclable materials used such as frame for aluminum, metal casings for motors, carbon fibre propellers. • LiPo battery can be disposed with regular trash after performing steps.
Ethical Considerations • SAFETY • Propellers spin extremely fast at about 7000 RPM. Build protective sheath such as Parrot Drone, balance propellers carefully, provide elaborate instruction guide, warning labels. • LiPo battery can catch fire due to crash, release harmful toxins.Find other battery solutions? • Control algorithm extremely complex; could potentially contain bugs. Rigorous testing required along with regular firmware update. User manual must also contain known bugs and effects.
Ethical Considerations • WEATHER CONDITIONS • Dangerous to fly in windy conditions. Test in various conditions and rate reliability. • LiPo battery can catch fire due to crash, release harmful toxins.Find other battery solutions? • LIFETIME OF PRODUCT • Decrease weight, reducing load on motors hence requiring lesser energy. • Use less ‘heavy duty’ motors requiring lesser current. • Ensure FAA compliance, limit flight altitude decreasing energy consumption.
