Beers created the first set of rules. Equipment needed: Crosse: Stick with basket on the end ( the term Lacrosse- French for the Stick) Ball Goal Helmets, mask and padding (in actual lacrosse) STX- Ball: non contact, lead up activity to Lacrosse.
The Game • 6 players per team • No Goalie • Only 4 offensive players may cross center line • Must have both hands on stick at all times • Two passes made before shot on goal • Ball at mid court after goal
Rule/Violations • Penalty Shot: Free shot at goal from mid court Awarded When? *Body contact or excessive stick contact *Not having 2 hands on stick (Crosse) *Having more than 4 players past mid court
Violations Continued • Change of Ball The other team will receive the ball at point rule infraction occurred. • Stalling - holding the ball more than 3 seconds. • Traveling – taking more than 2 steps with ball • Shoot at goal before 2 passes
