MDT 2012An introduction • New release to ride the System Center 2012 “wave” • Adding support for Configuration Manager 2012 and all of its new OS deployment capabilities • Providing enhancements for all existing customers • Lite Touch • Zero Touch • User Driven Installation • Laying the foundation for the next version of Windows
MDT 2012Timeline • Beta 1 is now available to everyone from http://connect.microsoft.com • Solution Accelerator connection, Microsoft Deployment program • Please download and provide feedback, either directly or through Connect • Beta 2 is expected very soon • Release candidate is expected in January • Final release shortly after ConfigMgr 2012 RTM and general availability
MDT 2012Beta 1 Features • Support for ConfigMgr 2012 • New app model support (in TS and database) • Integration with the new console (wizards, task sequence actions) • Support for new pre-execution hook (automate TS selection)

MDT 2012Beta 1 Known Issues • Lite Touch • Deployment share upgrades flatten logical folder structure • Static IP configuration isn’t in the right place for bare metal deployments • Deployment logic doesn’t always pick the proper partition • User state migration may fail when multiple partitions are present • ConfigMgr • Deployment logic doesn’t always pick the proper partition • Volume choice in the UDI wizard is ignored • UDI Wizard designer does not recognize the presence of the ConfigMgr 2012 console • Boot image generation fails if the ConfigMgr 2012 console isn’t running elevated
