What is FORCECOM? The Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM) Training Division • Responsible for all individual and asset-level training, including boats, cutters, aviation and shore units. • Charged with the current and future readiness of all CG workforces -- Active Duty, Reserve, Auxiliary, and Civilian – in both Operations and Mission Support. • Manages education and professional development activities.

Coast Guard Voluntary Education Program “The purpose of the Voluntary Education Program is to support military and civilian components in the pursuit of personal educational goals on a voluntary education basis.” “The Coast Guard’s Tuition Assistance Program is designed to assist Coast Guard personnel in broadening academic or technical background by providing funding for off duty independent education.” COMDTINST M1500.10C
Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA) Program Eligibility Requirements: Enlisted - Course must be completed prior to RELAD, discharge, or retirement Officers - 24 months continued service upon completion of course Civilians - 3 months prior government service & 1 month continued service for each completed credit hour Reserves – Must be assigned to drilling status (SELRES) and maintain satisfactory drill status

Coast Guard Transcripts Coast Guard Transcripts are evaluations of a person’s total educational and occupational experience. College credits are assigned by evaluating an individuals military learning experience, non-traditional education, and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support exams.
Coast Guard Voluntary Education Program CGI Transcript of Military Learning Experiences • Work with the American Council on Education to review all USCG rates and courses for college credit recommendations • Official registered transcripts provided to colleges and universities as requested by the member • Approximately 8000 transcripts processed per year reflecting a conservative estimate of 25 hours of college credit for USCG training • Cost of tuition at $250 per semester hour---potential cost avoidance of $6,250 per member per transcript
Coast Guard Transcript Cost Savings FY12 SOCCOAST Student Agreements: 20,885 credit hours or approximately $5.2 million was saved by the use of non-traditional credits received through the use of Rating/Service School credits or exam/certification credits."
Coast Guard Degree Pathways Program Joint Effort between Coast Guard and SOCCOAST • Select degrees which maximize Rating and Service School credit • Allow students at various stages in their career to see their current and future degree progress • Establish a pathway between career and degree
