The educational path for social work Remember this first…it is important……… Professional social workers receive their degrees from an college or university that has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
The educational path for social work • The Bachelors of Arts and Sciences in Social Work (BSW) is the four year undergraduate degree. This four year program prepares you for professional practice in different settings and with various populations.
The educational path for social work The Master of Social Work program (MSW) is a two year graduate degree. This program prepares you for advanced social work practice, and specialization. With a MSW you can become licensed and eventually open up your own private practice.
Did you know that…. Only a person with a BSW undergraduate degree is eligible for the Advanced Standing MSW program. The Advanced Standing Masters of Social Work (MSW) program is a one year graduate program. So you can receive your MSW in one year instead of two, saving you time and money.
And if you are interested in teaching… The Doctorate of Social Work (DSW) or (PhD) prepares you to teach and conduct research at the college or university level.
So What about the Daemen College Social Work Program • The mission of the Daemen College Social Work program is to prepare students to be professionally responsible beginning generalist practitioners who will intervene on behalf of diverse groups. • This preparation includes education in foundational knowledge, skills, and values necessary for work with client systems of all sizes.
So What about the Daemen College Social Work Program • Through the integration of classroom instruction and community-based learning opportunities, students are prepared for leadership in the community and the profession.
The Daemen College Social Work Program Is comprised of a two-year lower division and a two-year upper division undergraduate curriculum which: • promotes the development of professional entry-level social work skills. • provides students with opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership skills in the community. • and prepares students to pursue graduate level social work education.
