  5. Level 1: prevention and promotion • Involves interventions that are applied before there is any problem or risk • Interventions in the area of universal support (targeting all young people) • Requires that we know which could be modifiable risk factors, and we have tools to modify them

  6. Methods on level 1 • Home visits and consults • Medical Check-ups • International Declaration of Children Rights

Home visitsandconsults • Organisation: Child and Family (Kind en Gezin) • Target Group: families with children aged 0 till 3) • Aims: prepare to parenthood and check-up • What are home visits? • Professional workers come to the house to talk about parenthood and (possible) problems • What are consults? • Check-ups on critical moments in life of baby

  8. II. Medical Check-up • Organisation: Pupil Guidance Centre • Target Group: every child that goes to school • Aims: check the health and give vaccines • What is a medical check-up? • On certain ages • 3/ 5/ 6/ 8/10/12/14 • Check health: weight, height, possible abuse or neglect

International Declaration of Children Rights • Organisation: United Nations Comity • Target Group: every child under the age of 18 • Aims: any complaint or question considering children rights • What is the international declaration of children rights? • Look at the situation with the child • If laws are violated research the complaint

  10. Level 2: prevention of youth at risk • Is used when primary prevention has failed • Is to prevent the risk to get worse or turn into problem

Family Group Conference • Organisation: GFC Network EU • Target group: families at risk thatchildrenwillbeplaced out of the home • Aims: improving life conditions, restorerelationships in family byempowering • What is a FGC? • The conference willbe lead by a coordinatorand he will help the family andtheirnetworktoimprove the situationby making a plan • The family andnetworkwillberesonsibletoexecutethis plan

Hotline violence, abuse and child abuse (1712) • Organisation: General welfare center (CAW) and Trust centerchild abuse (VK) • Target Group: children, young adults, adults and elderly involving violence and abuse • Aims: support forvictims, worriedfriends or familie andperpetrators • What is Hotline 1712? • Callcenter thatlistenstopeoplessuspisionsandgivesadviceon which actions canbe taken

Trust Centre Child Abuse • Organisation: Child And Family • Target Group: civiliansand professional workerswho suspect violenceagainstchildren • Aims: stopping or preventing child abuse through counselling, let parents acknowledge the situation • What is Trust Centre Child Abuse? • After a report theywillinvestigateit • Or they search for more information ex. with a doctor • Or theyimmediatlyintervene • If the centrecan’tassuresafety of childthey hand it over toSpecial Youthcareor judicial instances

  15. Level 3: prevention with youth with problems • Interventions designed for young people with problems. What interventions can be done to prevent young people from getting into problems again? • Aims to minimize suffering and promote to adjustment

Neutral visit area • Organisation: The Home • Target group: families where contact between parent and child is broken • Aims: restore, keep and redefine contact between parent and child(ren) • What is a neutral visit area? • Court has to give permission for parent to meet child • Both parents come to The House for an interview • If needed counseling can be given

Simbahouse Project • Organisation: SOS Child Villages (SOS Kinderdorpen) • Target Group: families dealingwithproblemsandgarantee safe environment forchild(ren) • Aims: preventthat the situationescalatesandgive intensive guidenceto the family • What is Simbahouse Project? • Childrenand heir family will move into a group home andwillhave intensive guidance. • Ex. Positive Parenting counselling and a special focus to restore positive contact between parent and child

Project Chantevent • Organisation: SOS Child Villages (SOS Kinderdorpen) • Target Group: children who are placed out of their home because their safety was at risk • Aims: offer these children a safe living environment in a group home with • What is project Chantevent? • Children are placed in small group homes with a SOS Mother, she is supported by educators, psychologist …

Protective measures • Organisation: federal gouvernement justice • Target Group: children who are victims and the perpetrators • Aims: Protection of the child and punishment of the perpetrator • What are protective measures? • Provide a temporary accommodation with a confidant, a foster family or in an institute. • A sentence imposed by court: imprisonment, internment or a detention during Her Majesty’s pleasure.
