Use proper punctuation around quote • Example: Abigail shows her indifference when she says, “I am completely indifferent” (22). • This is clearly shown when Danforth says “You have seen the Devil, have you not?“ (122) • Proctor’s transformation is complete when he says, “I do think I see some shred of goodness in John Proctor” (151). Only put the part of the quote that you need in your paper. There is no need to write long quotations. • If you need to cut out a middle you may use brackets.
