  3. Over 100 Years of History • Founded by Thomas Edison in 1896 to verify light bulbs his company was manufacturing • Expanded into performance testing of a broad spectrum of manufactured goods • First product certification program was developed with Certified Ballast Manufacturers (CBM) in 1941

NRTL Accreditation - What It Is • NRTL accreditation is the benchmark for excellence for product safety certification laboratories in the United States. • Laboratories are accredited by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for 5 years, and then audited by OSHA for continued accreditation. • An NRTL must be qualified both to test products and to certify products. • Certification includes periodic factory audits to assure that manufacturers continue to produce products in accordance with the factory audit manual.

Ensuring Prompt and Accurate Testing and Reporting • Submit new products complete with correct model number and manual • Use shipping label that was provided or reference quote number on box • Runtime: all samples should be new, unused product. Additional runtime, other than what is already established can effect results • Failed units, must submit new sample for re-test light kits must be attached
