Tips For Proper Battery Maintenance • Keep the battery clean, dry, and free from corrosion. • Maintain the correct water level (about one half inch below the battery cap opening). • Add water only after the charge cycle • Set up a weekly or bi-monthly watering schedule to ensure proper water levels. • Avoid opportunity charging (charging during break times and lunch breaks) because each time you connect the battery to a charger, it uses one of its life cycles. • Inspect your battery for any defects or malfunctions, and have your service provider repair them as needed. • Have your batteries washed and serviced semi-annually to help control acid and corrosion.   4. Just Follow These Easy Steps • Check Water Levels and Water Quality - • Forklift batteries need to have the right amount of water to work at optimum capacity. You will also want to make sure the water quality is monitored, as impure water can lead to battery damage. • Charge the Battery Correctly - Over or undercharging this type of battery can significantly decrease its lifespan. Never interrupt a charge cycle. Letting your battery sit after charging is also recommended. It’s best practice to use the battery for 8 hours, charge it for 8 hours, and let it sit for 8 hours. Without maintaining the battery properly, low voltage and high amp draw can negatively impact your machine’s electronics. • Keep Batteries at a Safe Temperature - Keeping any battery at a safe temperature, where its operating temperature does not exceed 45℃ (113℉), will help to prolong its life. • Equalize Batteries Regularly - Many batteries need equalization approximately each five to ten charging cycles, but be sure to check the maintenance specifications for a battery before initiating the process.
