For most urban ministry, • attending college or seminary • is virtually impossible: • Too expensive • Too far away • Academic requirements are too • stringent or restrictive • Venue and content are • unrelated to urban life and • ministry • If an inner-city pastor or layman wants a theological education he or she must: • Change cultures • Know someone who is rich

In 1995 World Impact established The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) • Affordable ministry education in their communities • We offer seminary-level instruction through 16 courses in: • Biblical Studies • Theology and Ethics • Christian Ministry • Urban Mission Students are theologically and practically prepared to minister among the urban poor Harry is a former professional boxer who ministers to at-risk youth affected by gang violence “I grew in leading God’s people and proclaiming His Word” Fairy Dean Anderson, Tabernacle Baptist Church Rev. ESTIMATED START UP COST (with start-up grant) • One-time license fee $50 • 16 courses and a set of 41 required texts $638 • (Each course has 2 DVDs, a mentor guide, one student workbook) • TOTAL $688 • ANNUAL COSTS • Annual license fee $250 • Annual TUMI conference in Wichita, KS $800 • (varies based on travel) • STUDENT COSTS • $25 per TUMI student workbook (per course) • Required textbooks (averages $35 per course per student) • Student costs average $60/course ($25 + $35) • Seminary education for as little as $1000 (16 courses x $60)
