  1. II LATIN AMERICA, THE CARIBBEAN AND THE EUROPEAN UNION BUSINESS SUMMIT, LIMA, 14-15 MAY2008 The National Confederation of Private Businesses, CONFIEP, - the Peruvian equivalent of the British CBI -, is organizing the II Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union Business Summit to be held in Lima on 14th and 15th May 2008, at the Lima Museum of Art (MALI). This Business meeting is part of the Summit of heads of State and Government of LAC-EU, a set piece biannual gathering of leaders of government from Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union. This edition’s theme is “Investment to Achieve Well-being, Sustainable Development and Inclusion", which will feature a very distinguished group of speakers, including the President of Peru and the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. The meeting will offer a unique opportunity to mix with serious movers and shakers from the governmental and business worlds on both sides of the Atlantic. Sir Mark Moody-Stuart of Anglo American will be a panel member. Given that the United Kingdom is one of the biggest foreign investors in Peru, the hope is that there will be a strong showing by British companies. In addition to the official LAC-EU programme, on 14th May ProInversion will be organising a series of theme presentations on opportunities in Peru, and are coordinating one-to-one meetings between businesses. Information about the II Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union Business Summit can be found on their website www.confiep.org.pe.
