  1. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title: [Some Answers about MPSK PHY layer Proposal ] Date Submitted: [Sept. 2007] Source: [Liang Li, Chen Yang Yang , T.T. Liu, Pei Liu, Dixon Paul] Company: [Vinno Technologies Inc, BUAA, Hisilicon Inc. ] Address: [Suite 402, Building D, No.2 Shangdi Xinxi Lu, Beijing 100085, China] Voice:[8610-82782373], FAX: [8610-82893004] E−Mail: [liangli@vinnotech.com, cyyangbuaa@vip.sina.com] Re: [802.15.4c] Abstract: [ ] Purpose: [To encourage discussion in 802.15.4c] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. It is offered as a basis for discussion and is not binding on the contributing individual(s) or organization(s). 2. .4c Currently Discussed Proposals Atmel, Freescale, Integration Associates • Joint proposal rebanding 900 MHz OQPSK PHY down to 779-787 MHz band (4 channels) & change pulse shaping filter Vinno, BUAA and Huawei : • New MPSK PHY, • Compatible to management and data structures, definitions of IEEE802.15.4-2006 Phy layer • RC shaping filter. • The difference on • MPSK Modulation, not OQPSK • PN Code table • Pre-processing. Liang Li (Vinno)

  3. CWPAN Major PHY D’s On the PN code, the detail Difference are: • PN Codes are circular shifted by 1 instead of by 2 • PN Codes 8-15 are not complex conjugates of PN Codes 0-7 • PN Codes are floating-point numbers instead of binary numbers • PN Codes are not DC free • Based on technical input/guidance from IEEE 802.15.4c changes were made by the CWPAN to remove the DC offset, by addition of a DC removal block Liang Li (Vinno)

  4. CWPAN Major PHY D’s (cont’d.) Mapping Data to PN Code • The sentence is misunderstanding: “The same mapping is not used for preamble, SFD and data payload” • The same mapping is used for Preamble, SFD and data Payload. • The SFD is the preamble through pre-processed after the same mapping. Modulation • M-ary PSK, Non Constant Envelope, Crest fact is 2.89dB. • As the OQPSK + RC pulse filter, waveform is not Constant Envelope. Crest fact is about 1.0dB. Liang Li (Vinno)
