  3. Public Policy and Industrial Norms: Over 80% of Fellows see working with public policy and institutional norms as an important part of their work. On average, over 50% of Fellows have achieved change in national policy and/or industry within five years of election. Business social congruence: The business sector is increasingly converging with the citizen sector. 72% of Fellows generate up to 25% of their revenue through for-profit partnerships or operations. Devi Shetty Dr. Devi Shetty, a pioneer in tertiary healthcare sector in India, has not only used business principles to reduce cost of heart surgeries, but has furthered his vision of ensuring low cost high quality access to health for all, by lobbying for a health insurance program for a premium of Rs. 5 a month.

Full Citizenship and Empathetic Ethics: Significant portions of Ashoka Fellows achieve national impact to fully include marginalized groups in society and connect groups in society to foster empathy and reduce conflict. Suresh Kumar, Institute for Palliative Medicine Dr. Suresh has created a volunteer led model, which effectively distributes the responsibility, cost and resources among the community, to provide care to poor patients with incurable and chronic diseases.
