Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was an important man. He was the 16 th president of the United States. He was born in Kentucky to Tom and Nancy Lincoln. He had one sister named Sarah. Abe’s mother loved to read and encouraged him to enjoy reading.

Abe’s mother loved to read and encouraged him to enjoy reading.
His dad remarried and Abe had a stepmother named Sarah who was good and kind.
When Abe was 8, he started to school. He walked 11/2 miles to school.
Abe worked all of his life. His first paying job was rowing a flatboat across the Ohio River.
Abe read and read and read. He learned so much that he was able to become a lawyer in Springfield Illinois
When he was a man, he fell in love with a fun loving woman named Mary Lincoln. They had three boys.
He later ran for president of the United States and won that too.
When he became president, all people were not free. African Americans were called slaves.
He didn’t think that was fair and wrote a law that made them free.
This caused a great war in our country called the Civil War.
