DMAC Mission and Goals Mission: The Data Management Advisory Committee provides guidance to the Gulf of Mexico Alliance to facilitate the efficient preservation and use of data for promoting the ecological, economic, and public health of the Gulf of Mexico. Goal 1: Develop, implement, and maintain an evolving plan for the efficient preservation, discovery, and use of data and information in the Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA). Goal 2: Enable collaboration in the area of data management among the Priority Issue Teams (PITs) of the GOMA.
A Few Key Issues • Timely development needs • Resources for development - not in PIT funding • How to share data management resources (tool, database, etc.) • Where things live - who is the short-term and long-term host • Leveraging with other communities of interest
Next Steps for GOMA DMAC • Consolidate and prioritize PIT needs (spreadsheet) • (Note: Individual PITs are continuing with their data management) • Data management functions vs. available tools matrix • Develop a Strategic Plan (5-year plan) • Develop a Communication Plan • Develop a Funding Model
