  2. What is Engineering? Engineering is the practical application of science and math to solve problems. It is everywhere in the world around you. From the start to the end of each day, engineering technologies improve the ways that we communicate, work, travel, stay healthy, and entertain ourselves

  3. What do Engineers do? • Engineers can make something… • Stronger • Tastier • Quicker • Cheaper • Brighter • For the first time • From an idea to a reality

  4. What if every morning you woke up and ate this? • How would an Engineer be involved? • Biochemical for Grain Processing • Chemical/Food Developers for product taste, freshness, consistency • Mechanical/Process/Electrical for Bakery Plant • Packaging/Process for printing of box and wrappers • Not to mention the Engineers that designed, tested and built the toaster or microwave you cooked it in.

  5. How many people listen to one of these? • How would an Engineer be involved? • Computer Engineering to design and program, interface with your computer • Material Engineers for plastics, colors, durability, feel • Chemical/Material for manufacturing of the components, batteries, chips inside, memory, LCD Screen… • What about all the engineering in acoustics, speaker development, sound recording….

  6. Could you imagine life without… • Air Conditioning or Heating? • Toilet paper or Tissues? • Working electrical outlets? These are some of the jobs that Atlanta SWE members have as engineers!
