  1. 4 Signs That Your Car Needs Exhaust Repair The exhaust system is made of piping that guides harmful exhaust gases away from the engine and into the atmosphere. Exhaust gas typically flows through the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, resonator and finally the muffler, which connects to the tail pipe. Each of these parts needs to function properly for the system to work.

  2. When there's a problem, poisonous gases that are colorless and odorless can travel into the passenger cabin, putting you and your passengers at serious, potentially fatal risk. If you notice any of the symptoms below, make an appointment at your local service center as soon as possible. 1. Engine noise: 1. Engine noise: Potentially the easiest sign to spot which will tell you that the exhaust needs attention, is a loud rumbling noise coming from the engine. If you notice that your engine noise has changed considerably, this is usually a clear sign of an internal problem. If you’re unsure whether or not your engine has in fact gotten louder, a simple way of measuring this is to check the radio settings. If you find that you have to consistently listen to your car’s stereo at a louder volume than before, it could mean that the volume of your engine has increased due to a problem with the exhaust. If you notice any changes to the sound of your car’s engine, you should take your vehicle in to be looked at by a professional as soon as possible. 2. Excessive Exhaust Smoke: 2. Excessive Exhaust Smoke: One of the most common signs of internal engine trouble is excessive exhaust smoke. It will generally come from the tailpipe tinted a certain color. Based on that color you'll be able to tell what the problem likely is that's occurring. Blue Exhaust - A bluish exhaust generally indicates an oil leak inside the motor. If you burn motor oil it burns with blue smoke. An oil leak puts your vehicle at risk of oil starvation, which can lead to major engine damage. Black Exhaust - If your vehicle is emitting black exhaust smoke it is because it is burning too much gasoline. This not only greatly decreases your MPGs but can cause numerous other issues inside the engine.

  3. White Exhaust - A cooling system leak that is allowing coolant to be burnt in the engine can be identified by puffy white smoke coming out of the muffler. 3. Vibrating gas pedal: 3. Vibrating gas pedal: Another common sign of exhaust system trouble is a vibrating gas pedal. When the exhaust fumes escape from the route they're supposed to be in it can cause the pipes to shake. This eventually translates to a shaking or vibration sensation in the gas pedal and sometimes the steering wheel, depending on how big the leak is. As with the increased noise this symptom will also be more noticeable during rapid acceleration. 4. Reduced Fuel Efficiency: 4. Reduced Fuel Efficiency: Another sign of an exhaust leak is a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency. Addressing the problem early on will save you money. Stainless Steel Exhaust Systemsare best for this and you can get them in best quality to save your car.
