  1. Contour Line Hands with Text

  2. Warm color text cool color background As in gesture drawing , this will take some practice but the results are worth it. It is inevitable that if you are really letting your eye guide your hand , the resulting line art drawings will be lifelike and expressive. Just be patient and allow yourself to make "mistakes".

  3. Chose one warm color and 2-3 cool colors or chose one cool color and 2-3 warm colors. If the warm is in the foreground the cool must be in the background and visa versa

  4. Different ways to draw Hands The importance is the process, not the final product. If you stick with the process, success will follow. Once you learn how to do contour line drawings correctly, you will see how much can be expressed just through lines. The lines themselves will imply the three-dimensions of objects and the bulk of human figures.

  5. 1. Form the fingers.
Observing carefully the shape of the space between them, draw and check the relative size and placement of the fingers and thumb.

  6. 2. Refine the drawing. Indicate the main visible creases, especially where the thumb folds into the hand. Refine contour lines defining the palm and thumb.

  7. 3. Describe the form with tone. Here some rough shading is added to bring out the form of hand. Once you have the basic form down, try more subtle shading, and observe the fine lines and visible veins.

  8. 4. In this example some fingers are partially hidden. Draw the closest finger first and allow the others to sit in behind it, drawing only the portion you can see, or lightly indicating the hidden lines to help judge proportion.

  9. TEXT IN ART • Creative designers can use typography in amazing ways.
