Sentient Computing Presenter : Alhafmalik .K SyedAmmal Engineering College, Ramanathapuram.
Sentient computing is a form of ubiguitous computing which uses sensors to perceive its environment and react accordingly… • Goals: • build Sentient Spaces = computerised environments that sense & react • close gap between user and computer by using context • make ubiquitous computing reality through Sentient Computing • Ubiquitous Computing: • Includes pervasive tech, calm tech, things that thing, everyware, pervasive internet • Literaly visible effectievly invisible
Auotomobiles, machines, aerospace, industry, robotics… Sensors • Active badges: • Identity+room level+button • Label, infra red beacon, receiver in room • Tech limited acces through doors • Computer terminal adopts your settings by “teleporting” • Infra red location: • 15 meters range diffuse • Room scale accuracy 95% of time containment
Proximity: active badges • User/object wears badge • Badge emits id over IR • IR doesn’t penetrate walls • Active bat: • Low power, wireless, indoor location system accurate upto 3 cm • It requires minimum of three reference nodes for calculating distance • Bat System • Light weight wearable devices contain 433mhz radio transceiver, ultrasonic transducer, battery • Goal is to propagation of ultrasound from a bat to its local receiver to determine bat’s position
System principles: • Bat & system is connect to sensor network communicate using radio channel • Each bat have 2 transducers pointing in different directions to create ultrasonic emission in wearer • Power: • Achived through dynamic positioning update rate, ket to present motion of bat, sensed using jitter switch • Maximum updation rate is 15 Hz • Accuracy: • Accuracy of 3cm,95% of time of time is achieved • Reflection from smooth surface, corner of room result in worst result
Spatial Indexing • Based on programming space • Events triggered by interaction between tracked entities & pre-defined space • Interaction with system done by spatial buttons • Spatial database: • Index section consist of global & street atlas commonly contains list of named features(towns, streets etc..) • Also include identifiers and database named by feature name • Features of spatial data bases: • It includes spatial index to speed up database operation • It includes queries such as…. • Spatial Measurements: distance between points, polygon area… • Spatial function:Modifying existing features to create new ones • Spatial Predicates: Allows true/false queries (is there residence located within a miles)
Trilateration: • Finding relative position of objects using geometry of triangles like as triangulation • For 2d plane using tilateration generally requires 3 reference nodes • GPS: • It is type of sentient computing includes 24 satellites • For navigation ,military, map making, surveying …etc • VNC(Virtual network computer): • RFB (Remote frame buffer)protocol to remotely control another computer • Platform independent • Acessing files on one’s work computer from one’s home computer • Devoloped at AT&T
Under Research….. • Grid-based spatial indexes allocation of relevant objects to their position in grind • Grid cell identifiers for rapid acess • Old method data driven approach(data dependent mathod) • Recent space driven approach • Data distribution • Automatic control of environment without user intervention • Mobile Eye • How mobile comm.. And services can be enriched by adding context awareness to them • We can view the world using camera mobile • Project going in EMI^2(Environment to mobile intelligent interaction)
MobileEye Concept • mobile
Applications: • Opening and closing doors automatically • A textual indication of where someone is, how fast the are moving, how long they have been there • Showing the local context, including who and what else is nearby • Personalization by teleporting VNC desktops • Surveillance applications which the selection of a particular camera is based on spatial data
