Always point a test tube away from you and others when heating it over a heat source. • Never reach across a flame
If any chemical gets on your skin or clothing immediately notify your teacher.
Never Smell a Chemical Directly. Wave your hand over the opening of the container and “waft” the fumes toward your nose
Do not eat or drink in the science lab. • Never taste a chemical unless you are instructed to do so
Clean Up • Your work area should be kept clean at all the times. • Clean all the equipment before putting it • away. • Clean up before you leave the class.
Read and follow directions. • If you do not understand ask for help.
Containers • Never use broken or chipped glassware. • Keep lids on bottles or containers when not in use
