introduction • Six steps of SDLC • Preliminary investigation • Documentation: feasibility report. -->>
System development project typically contains six steps or phases Preliminary investigation System analysis System design System acquisition System implementation System maintenance
THE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE(SDLC) 1. Preliminary investigation 2. System analysis 3. System design
THE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT LIFE CYCLE(SDLC) • SDLC describes the development of a system from the time it is first studied until the time it is put into use. It can be used to both a large corporation or a home office PC. • Each step results in some type of documentation that move on to the next step. These six steps do not always follow one another in a strict sequence. • Ex: the analysis and design are interwoven and modified and skipped along with the process development
DOCUMENTATION: FEASIBILITY REPORT The main output of the preliminary investigation. Includes : The systems analyst’s findings on the status of the existing system. The benefits and feasibility of changing to a new system. Measuring feasibility: Using a few different perspectives. Personnel needed to implement the new system. Feasibility report also contains the systems analyst’s recommendations.
