GSMPv3 Packet Capable Switch Support<draft-ietf-gsmp-packet-spec-00.txt> 56th IETF GSMP WG, San Francisco Kenneth Sundellksundell@nortelnetworks.com
Status • First revision of this draft • The media specific information extracted from RFC3292 (GSMPv3 Specification) is put into this draft • The document will be one of three media specific documents • Support for L2 Capable and Packet Capable switches • Most of the content is there but some is redundant to base spec draft • The intention is trying to make smallest impact to implementations supporting RFC3292
Main issues • Content that is common for other technologies as well (e.g. Optical) should be moved to the Base specification • Need to restructure the Failure response ranges for the different media types. • Definition of stacked labels belongs to the Base specification
Scope (1) • L2 and Packet media bundled together • Got consensus to couple the two media at Atlanta meeting • Messages and Types belonging to this draft: • Labels types and Label Range messages • ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS Generic, FEC Labels • ATM specific procedures related to Connection Management • Add Branch, Move Output Branch and Move Input Branch messages • Port Configuration messages • Port Type Specific data for ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS Generic and FEC’s
Scope (2) • Statistics • ATM Specific Report Connection State Procedure • Service Definitions • ATM Forum, Int-serv, CR-LDP and Frame Relay Services • Format and encoding of the Traffic Parameters for these services • Traffic Controls (TC) Flags • Failure Response Codes • Description of Failure and Warning Response Messages for the related media types
What next? • Need to coordinate with the authors of draft-ietf-gsmp-v3-base-spec-01 to remove redundant content • A new version of the draft reflecting these changes will be submitted shortly after this IETF • Please read the draft and comment on the list
