The historyofourschoolstartsafter the CouncilofTrent (1545), however, thatschoolwasonlyfor a fewchildren.In 1620 the priestofGatteowasalso a "teacherofgrammar", butwhenhedied, hewasn’t replaceduntil 1714. Anotherpriestwascommissionedas a "teacher" and studentsbegantoincrease.At Napoleon's passagemonasteries and monksweresuppressed and priestswerechargedto continue toteachkids.The schoolwashosted inside the castle. In 1846 in Gatteothereweretwo public schools: primaryand middle school, sincetherewere a lotofpriests (“Liceo Ginnasio” in Gatteowasverypopular).
