BAKER EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY Juan Herrera Rivera DIAGNOTEC LTDA.
Initial Situation • Pump with 12% imbalance in new well.Pump motor rewind in Chile.Approximately 12 amps for transformer neutral.Customer blames company that made the winding.
Status of Measures • Dynamic testing is done to pump deep well (M1) showing high current unbalance.Booster pump is tested, taken from the same bar (M2), but there were no major imbalances. It tests the momentum and to pump ohmic resistance (M1) to obtain balance in both tests.
SITUATION AFTER TESTS • There being no booster pump problems discard problems upstream of CCM. • Potentialproblemarisesin the CCM. • Power connections are changed in the external terminal to know if the problem continues with the phase of CCM or motor phase. The result is that it goes with the motor phase.
SITUATION AFTER TESTS • Report is made in response, that based on information provided by the instruments, there is a problem in the wiring of the motors. • Customer does not accept this option but decided to test the pumps with short cables and full load in a test. Results: Approximately 2% of unbalance
ACTIONS • the structure of the cable it is reviewed, whereas no groundingShield.. • In consultation with the parent company of the pump manufacturer, we decided to distribute the cables at 120 ° geometry, between each phase. • Results: Approximately 2% in currentimbalance.
CONCLUSIONS • The phenomenon occurred over there, had the magnetic origin by the effect of cables. • The use of both Baker instruments, Explorer II Series and D 12 R were highly reliable enough, to solve the problem. • It could have saved direct costs and lost profits.
