In this tutorial you will: Create a Grade Item(s) in D2L corresponding to TP data to be imported Import the data into D2L into appropriate ‘grade item’ column This tutorial assumes you have exported a TurningPoint Session (.tpz) file to a suitably named .csv file.
Create a Grade Item(s) in D2L corresponding to TP data to be imported This tutorial assumes that you are in the grade book of your D2L course site...
In the grade book of your D2L course site, click on New Item.
In this window, type a Name for your grade item. Next select a grade item type.
Now select the grade item type (usually numeric). And then click Save.
Click on Grades to Return to your grade book… A message will indicate that the grade item has been saved.
Your new grade item is now in the grade book. You can change its position in the grade book, and manipulate it as you would any other grade item.
Importing the TurningPoint .csv data file into D2L into the appropriate ‘grade item’ column
Select Import into Grades from CSV. Then scroll to the bottom of this screen…
Click on Browse; then find and highlight and double click the CSV file you want to import.
After the file path appears in the Browse box, click Preview Import to see what the import will look like.
This is the Confirmation Report. If yours looks like this, click Import.
If the import is successful, see this message: Click on Grades List…
In this example, not all students used their clickers! Those that did show a score.
A note about D2L imports: D2L automatically matches student usernames, so that you can import Participant Lists with different students. This is useful especially near the beginning of the semester during the add/drop period when students may add the class and purchase their clickers late or (after dropping the course) return them to the bookstore.
