Steps I followed to create this presentation • Open power point. • Click on new, click on presentation, click on project overview • Use Art, colors, animation, and any other things you like • For material for your project visit some websites of any computer company of your choice. For example you may visit: http://dell.com/ http://thenew.hp.com/ gateway.com There you can get prices for servers, Pc, routers, .. etc

Steps To copy a picture To Power Point Presentation • Right click on the picture • Click on “Choose Save Picture As”. • Save it either on your “A” drive or in “My Documents” (Do not forget later to delete it from “MY Documents”). For example I saved it in a file and named it Net_Work. • Click on “Insert” on the Tool Bar of the power point, and choose “New Slide”, choose a blank slide. • Click on “Insert” again, click on “Picture”, and click “From file”. Choose the file which you stored the picture in. Now the picture is in your slide.

  4. Get prices For Servers and other Equipments • Visit a website such as http://dell.com/ • From the top under “Computer” click on “Server”, and you see all different Servers. Let us say you want “Tower” server but you would like to customize your server. For that click on “Tower”, then click on the picture of the server above “Departmental reliability”, Now click on “Customize a& Price”. Choose the additions you want, and update the price. • Use the same procedure to get the Desk Tops, Lap Top, and other equipments. Also you can get the prices for software in the same manner.

  5. Transfer your power point to your Website • Save the your power point presentation in a file call it H7.ppt • Now open FTP (such as Cute FTP or others). • Get on your Unix account by typing your user id and password. • When you logged on, you see from the left side is your PC, and from the right side is your Unix account. • On your Unix account you see directory public_html. Double click on that, this make the directory to changed from your home directory to public_html. • Now on the left hand side that is on your PC find file H7.ppt , click on that, and then click on the left arrow. This will transfer file H7.ppt to the public_html directory of your Unix account. • Close FTP, and log on your Unix account. Change the mode of your file by typing command “chmod 755 h7.ppt”. Now your presentation is on the web. Its URL is http://emunix.emich.edu/~ab2152/H7.ppt where a in “ab’ is the first letter of your first name, and “b” is the first letter of your last name
