Oh,once there was a pirate boldWho thought that he could cook;He knew just how to bake a cakeHe’d read it in a book.He stirred it up,he stirred it down.He stirred it carefullyHe cooked it in a cooking pot And served it up for tea.
The Crew all took a hopeful biteAnd then with one accord They lifted up the pirate cookAnd threw him overboardThe cook was not so please at this,Until with joy he foundThat he could sit upon his cakeAnd paddle it around
He paddles it,he paddled it,he paddled night and day until a porpoise came alongAnd carried it away“That only shous,” the pirate said,“That I know how to bake;It is not usual for fishTo care for currant cake.”
“I knew that I was right,”he saidAnd gently sank below; And now he keeps a cooking schoolTo wich the mermaids go.
