SITUATION: SOLUTION: PowerOneData developed a complex MSSQL database application that it easily adapted to Windows Azure. P1DI hosts each utility’s data in a separate, secure instance. Smart meters upload consumption data to the cloud, where both utilities and consumers have instant access. Communication is two way, so meters can be updated with the latest rates, prepaid balances, or even disconnected remotely.
