  3. Middle: Overview about the flickr. Flickr is an image hosting and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community that was created by Ludicorp in 2004 and acquired by Yahoo! in 2005. In addition to being a popular website for users to share and embed personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social media.Yahoo reported in June 2011 that Flickr had a total of 51 million registered members and 80 million unique visitors. In August 2011 the site reported that it was hosting more than 6 billion images and this number continues to grow steadily according to reporting sources. Photos and videos can be accessed from Flickr without the need to register an account but an account must be made in order to upload content onto the website. Registering an account also allows users to create a profile page containing photos and videos that the user has uploaded and also grants the ability to add another Flickr user as a contact.

  4. 2. Purpose for presenting flickr. Flickr is very benefit site because we can use and benefit from it in education and in teaching and learning processes. For this reason and because most of us will be a teacher in the future I decide to present to you the flickr in more details. 3. More details about flickr. The best online photo management and sharing application in the world. Has two main goals: Help people make their photos available to the people who matter to them. Enable new ways of organizing photos and video. Flickr over 5 million registered members. -approx 4.5 million photos/ videos uploaded daily. -more than 151 million geo-tagged photos. -over 4 billion images stored to date. -2009 webby award winner: community -50 best website 2009 (Time magazine)

Opinions about use it in education We can use flickr in education for many things such as: -For single image analysis. -For multiple image digital storytelling projects. -For creating slides shows within Flickr. -For virtual Field Trips -For the creation of visual arguments, e.g. in a biology classroom- such as the case for Genetic Engineering. -Forgeo-tagging images in Flickr and then using Google Earth to teach Geography. -for the visual documentation of school events. -for the visual documentation of student artwork and other school learning products.
