Case background information • During the Japanese American war, the President signed Executive order 9066, which allowed military authorities to enact curfews. It also forced Japanese – Americans to sell their homes and belongings and move to internment camps. How did the Court answer the essential question? • The court vote was 6:3 in favor of the United States. They came to the conclusion saying that without the Japanese- Americans in internment camps, the public would be in danger. Why is this considered a landmark case?
