Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites - CGMS GMS series INTORODUCTION MTSAT-1R • JMA has been operating the Data Collection System (DCS) since its first Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS) was launched in 1977 • As follow-on satellites to the current MTSAT-1R and MTSAT-2, spacecraft Himawari-8 and Himawari-9 are scheduled to enter operationin 2015 and 2017, respectively.
