Inventers George Nissen • The trampoline was created by George Nissen and Ray Griswold in 1936. • Nissen was a gym and diving competitor. • Griswold was a tumbler on the gymnastics team. • They were both from Iowa. Larry Griswold
Idea Of Trampoline • George Nissen developed the idea of the trampoline while watching trapeze artists perform their daring stunts and safely land in a safety net. • He thought it would be more efficient if they could bounce more and longer. • He formed “Rebound Tumbling” and The Three Leonardos performed in Mexico where he discovered el tranpolin.
How It Was Made • It was originally made by stretching canvas and adding grommets to an angled iron framework by coiled springs. • Modernized trampolines are made with a buoyant type web (nylon). • They are now supported in a metal framework sustained by springs.
Consumer of Product • The product provides entertainment for children and adults around the world. • It also aids gymnasts and trapeze artists because it defies gravity by adding an extra bounce.
Improvements on Society • The trampoline has not made a drastic change on the world we live in today as other inventions like the cell phone, but it has revolutionized the entertainment world. • It has also provided job opportunities for many people.
Modern Improvements • Trampolines have industrialized since their start in 1936. • Some modern improvements are the sturdier material in the bouncing pad and the protective net around the trampoline. • These improvements were made for safety purposes. • If we had to improve the trampoline, it would be made out of a bouncier material so we could jump higher
