COMT Challenges • Coordinate COMT planning and award cycles and process • Engagement with other agencies • Allow for both continuity of effort (partnerships) and new projects (new PIs) • Clear understanding of COMT role to help define metrics of success 13
COMT Lessons Learned • Often modelers are more different than models • Sustained effort required to bring different modeling groups together • Usually worth the effort - can lead to rapid learning and model improvement • Often largest difference in models is specialization and performance • Capacity building is often a critical part of transition – partnerships are key • Mature modeling groups already have many CI tools • A standards based, multi-model archive is difficult 13
