  2. Minimum Ball Diameter • Grading table will indicate minimum ball diameter for each grade. • Bigger plants should have a larger diameter ball to capture a larger percentage of the root system.

  3. Ball Depth • Ball depth is related to ball diameter.

  4. Ball Depth • A 18 inch diameter ball should have a depth of: • 18 x .75 = 13.5 inches • Round that up to 14 inches.

  5. Ball Depth Larger Plant < 20 inches 75% 20 - 30 inches 66% > 30 inches 60%
