Compression pg.408 • A part of the wave where the air particles are bunched together.
Frequency pg.409 • The frequency of a wave is the number of waves that pass a point in a certain amount of time.
Wavelength pg.409 • The distance between a point on one wave and a similar point on the next wave.
Pitchpg.412 • Pitch is what makes a sound seem high or low.
Reflection pg.420 • Reflection occurs when light rays bounce, or reflect, from a surface back to our eyes.
Absorption pg.420 • Absorption occurs when an object takes in the light wave.
Transparent pg.421 • A material that allows nearly all of the light rays to pass through it.
Translucent pg.421 • Materials that let some light rays pass through but scatter other rays.
Opaque pg.421 • Materials that do not let any light pass through them.
Refraction pg.422 • When light moves at an angle from one medium to another, some of the light is reflected, some is absorbed, and some passes through and changes directions. It bends!! This bending is called refraction.
